Did You Ever Wonder What Happened tp NPH’s Trouser Weasel?

Posted by & filed under , .

With Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway and everyone going crazy over it, did you ever wonder what happened to Neil Patrick Harris’s “Trouser Weasel”?  Let’s face it, he doesn’t look too much like a bottom and he has a hot boyfriend so that huge “cock” hiding under his “gown” has got to be pretty impressive to help his husband have fun.  So with such an impressive thing hiding under his “robe” you’d have to wonder how he can hide it when on stage in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Luckily for you we did our research (i.e. wasted time on Facebook) and found out what really exists between NPH’s legs.  A big, energetic and hairy beast that can wake up to stand at attention, do tricks and please almost any man…or woman.  No sure what I mean?  Watch the video below about Neil Patrick Harris’s best buddy and you may wonder as well how he hides it for Hedwig

Ok, so I went a bit overboard with the description, but if you haven’t ever watched Neil Patrick Harris’s puppet dream series from Nerdist you have to. It is all about really bad jokes…most of them are about being gay or sex so we’ll all love them, funny random puppets and of course our favorite crush from the 80’s or 90’s NPH. Dr. Horrible gets worse in these videos and you’ll love being distracted for about an hour when you need a break from work while watching Neil Patrick Harris’s Puppet dreams.

Once you’re done watching Neil’s Puppet Dreams, make sure to come back and watch the preview for Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway.  We haven’t seen it yet but we are going in August and can’t wait.  If you have seen Neil Patrick Harris in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, feel free to leave a comment below, but also please don’t spoil anything for the rest of us.  Thank you again for reading and coming to our site and I hope you love Neil’s Puppet Dreams as much as we do.  If you need tickets to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway, don’t forget to check out our tickets page where you can find broadway tickets on sale.

Passover showtune – The Deli Song by Elaine Brier

Posted by & filed under , .

Every spring we get ready for the Easter Bonnet contests at our favorite gay bars, sing Streisand’s version of Put on your Sunday blah blah blah, hearing Easter Parade or other Easter and hat related showtunes, and are tortured with Easter Bunny clips and showtunes like Here Comes Peter Cottontail.  What nobody does is share some amazing Passover showtunes!  Broadway wasn’t built by gays and Jews for nothing hunny and one of our favorite Cabaret Performers Elaine Brier doesn’t disappoint with her performance of “The Deli Song”.

As a quick heads up, there is some profanity in the song, but it isn’t real profanity once the joke is over.  Ok, to be honest, there are some good songs we could play for Passover Showtunes, but we haven’t shared a cabaret performance for a while, we love Elaine when we see her in NYC and she shared this video on her Facebook page so we decided to share it as well.

If you’re tired of bunnies and bonnets, try telling her favorite Jewish joke on behalf of the high holidays (I’m a Jew too so don’t tell me I’m being rude) and then make sure to like her fan page.  Elaine is an awesome performer and because this video is worth watching, it is our official Passover Showtune of the year.  Our people were free’d from slavery so we could create Broadway, make funny movies and perform cabaret numbers like this one.

If you like the Deli Song by Elaine Brier or have another favorite, please feel free to leave a comment below and make sure to like her page on Facebook.  Have an awesome Passover, a great Easter and we’ll do another post shortly with another showtune for Easter like we do every year.  However, now it’s time for our first and our favorite Passover showtune which is The Deli Song by Elaine Brier and performed at our favorite cabaret bar in NYC Don’t Tell Mama.  Have a great holiday no matter what you are celebrating and thank you again Elaine for the funny song and performance.  Happy Passover!

7 Linda Eder Songs You Can’t Live Without – Share Yours Here

Posted by & filed under .

You either love Linda Eder or you fall in Love with Linda Eder.  When I first her her sing I thought that’s a gorgeous voice, but it sounds like someone trying to be Barbra.  The I heard Jekyll and Hyde and realized how wrong I was.  Linda Eder doesn’t just sing amazing versions of Broadway Songs, she conquers them.  I already shared two of my favorite Linda Eder covers “The Impossible Dream” from Man of Lamancha and “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from Funny Girl so after watching Idina Menzel destroy anyone else’s chance at ever covering “Let it Go” from Frozen, here are 7 Linda Eder songs and covers you cannot live without.  Feel free to leave a comment with your own favorite Linda Eder Song below.  You can also buy the MP3 and CD versions through the widgets and links.

Someone Like You – Jekyll and Hyde.

This is the song that made me fall in love with her. Not only is she the original in the role, she set a standard that nobody has been able to beat, match or take on. Here is Linda Eder singing “Someone Like You” from Jekkyl and Hyde.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

We know she takes on iconic songs and then takes them over, so how do you think she’ll do against Judy Garland with Somewhere Over the Rainbow?

I Don’t Know How to Love Him

I love Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music and this is one of my favorite showtunes. If you haven’t fallen in love with Linda Eder’s voice yet, this song will help you to start to!

Bring on the Men

Back to Jekkyl and Hyde. It’s almost beach season and that means it’s time to Bring on the Men or to get your butt back in the gym. This song is perfect for working out and motivation.

Out Here On My Own

Here is Linda Eder on Star Search proving that she has always been an amazing singer and was ready for Broadway.

A New Life

Another one of my favorite showtunes and Linda Eder songs. She kills this one and if you don’t like it, you probably should ignore all posts about Linda Eder from this blog. This one is amazing!

Vienna

I wasn’t sure if I should do I Dreamed a Dream or Vienna by Linda Eder. She does both of them extremely well, but when you take a song that isn’t as well known and can bring a crowd to their feet, that is definitely the winner.

If you still don’t love Linda Eder songs or if you don’t see your favorite Linda Eder songs on this list, feel free to leave a comment with your favorite song, or go to the Idina Menzel section for another amazing belter. Linda is an amazing singer and once you’ve heard a few of her songs like the two I mentioned at the beginning of the post, you’ll instantly fall in love. She is amazing at taking songs that are hard to sing and making them almost impossible to match which is why we are a huge fan of Linda Eder and the songs she covers.

Idina Menzel Wins – Gets to Sing Frozen @ Academy Awards!

Idina Menzel Sings Let It Go from Frozen at Academy Awards

I am soo excited that lead Actress Idina Menzel will sing Let It Go from Frozen at the Academy Awards.  When they said it was a toss up there were a million good reasons.  Idina sang Let it Go in the Cast Recording (I’m not calling it a soundtrack because it was real singing by the cast) but the other girl (who is very talented) sang the remake.  Although the remake is amazing, it is a different song and requires different talents vocally, especially if they are going to sing Let It Go at the Academy Awards.

The music changes, there is more backup and more lifts and drops which Idina can do well.  The thing that was missing from it was the insane belting from the movie version of Let It Go from Disney’s Frozen, and the only female cast member from this show who will pull that off well and have a voice that can sell to all of America and the world who will be watching the Academy Awards is Idina Menzel.  The voice has to belt, sound amazing and appeal to everyone.  That is what she did with Wicked and what she can do with Let It Go from Disney’s Frozen the Musical.

I cannot wait for the Academy Awards now and will actually watch this year.  It isn’t normally one of the shows I get excited for, but now that Idina Menzel is singing Let It Go from Frozen at the Academy Awards, it will be amazing to get to hear her belt it out live and I can’t wait to post it here as well if they allow sharing Idina Menzel singing Let It Go at the Academy Awards.  If you haven’t seen Disney’s Frozen yet, you need to.  Here are our Disney’s Frozen reviews if you want to read them first.

20 Best Barbra Streisand Moments, Songs & More

barbra streisand

Whether it is the best Barbra Streisand moments on Broadway, the best Barbra Streisand songs or even her fun TV Cameos, we all love this Diva and what she does.  Unfortunately with her career it is hard to pick the best Barbra Streisand songs, movies, moments, etc… but we did our best to bring you 20 of our favorite.  If you have one you think should be on the list, leave a comment below and we can always add it later.

Best Barbara Streisand Songs, Videos, Shows, Movies and More!

20.  Streisand sings I’m the greatest Star in Funny Girl

The reason we love this Barbra Streisand showtune is that is basically states what she is, The Greatest Star.  Even though she is playing Fannie Brice, it shows her ambition, excitement and that she knows she has the talent and will fight to get her chance to make it as a star.

19.  Barbara Streisand and Judy Garland sing Happy Days are Here Again

When you combine two amazing talents like Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland you will either have an amazing song or a huge flop.  Happy Days are Here Again not only became an amazing hit, but it also become the theme song for the Democratic Party that Barbra has strongly supported in the past.

18.  Barbra even makes Madonna drop characters – Saturday Night Live

If you loved Saturday Night Live, one of your favorite skits had to be Linda Richmond and Coffee Talk. Not only was she Streisand obsessed, but when she had family visiting they all had to talk about her. Oddly enough, even with professionals like Madonna, Mike Meyers and Rosanne on set, when someone like Streisand comes on everyone looses character for a second and looses control.

Unfortunately there are no versions of the scene on YouTube so here is a version with fake voices.

17.  Barbara Streisand Hits the Disco with Donna Summers and sheds “No Tears” about it.  Enough is enough duet.

If singing ballads and showtunes wasn’t enough for this Diva, she teamed up with Donna Summers to bring down the disco with the hit song Enough is Enough or No More Tears. She crossed over into Disco and took it by storm with one of the best singers of the disco era. This song is also still played today and done at a ton of karaoke nights.

16.  Duck sauce takes on Barbara Streisand and turns her famous name into a hit song.

Crossing into Disco with a Diva is somewhat easy for Streisand, but going into dance music is something that not everyone could do. Luckily for Babs, a DJ and group called Duck Sauce put a hit song together which is all about her. I think the only actual spoken lyrics (besides the Barbra Streisand impersonator) is her name.

15.  Bab’s sings Don’t Rain on My Parade and creates a generation of horrible Karaoke covers and showtunes night fails.

No need for this one. It’s one of the most famous broadway songs that launched her career and has been redone a million times by everyone from Lea Michelle to Linda Eder. It’s also one of the most popular showtunes for karaoke.

14.  Barbra Streisand makes a rare appearance on the game show What’s My Line.

One thing that game shows love are celebrities that show up for a guest appearance. On the show “What’s My Line” Babs made a guest appearance as a French Woman and surprised everyone.

13.  Barbra Streisand Sings Live on National TV on Oprah.

This was an amazing thing for Barbra Streisand. She took a break from TV and performing live and then appeared on Oprah. Not only did she sing a few songs, but she completely killed them.

12.  Barbra Streisand becomes a mother “Focker“!

Barbra returned to doing movies and appeared as the mother in the hit movie series as the Mother Focker with Ben Stiller and a ton of other amazing stars. Not only was the movie a hit, even though she didn’t appear until the second one “Meet the Fockers” but she did an amazing job as a laid back and liberal Jewish mother. I highly recommend this movie!

meet the fockers

11.  1964 – Bab’s creates and sings “People” for Funny Girl with her first Pop Hit on the charts!

The reason that this is a huge moment is that for each year into the 2000’s Streisand became one of the first or the only star to have a hit song or album across this many decades on the top of the Billboard charts.

10.  Bab’s wins a Tony in 1970 inscribed “Star of the Decade” making her one of the only people to win an Oscar, a Grammy, an Emmy and a Tony.

There are Tony awards for almost everything with theatre. However, when you have someone like Barbra Streisand at the Tony’s something a regular one isn’t good enough. The Tony Awards gave Barbra Streisand one that said “Star of the Decade” instead of a regular one.

9.  Kathy Griffin goes after Babs

You don’t get anywhere with today’s gays unless Kathy Griffin rips into you.  Luckily for Babs, Kathy not only dug into her but tried to rip her a new one.  Barbara Streisand now regained her gay fame across generations of gay men and everyone fell in love with her again.

8.  Jason Gould takes the stage with his Mom at a 2012 show and kicks butt!!!

When Barbra had her son Jason Gould, she had to pass some talent to him. Not only did she pass some talent, but she brought him on stage and he performed with his famous mom. The two of them were absolutely amazing and he killed the song!

7.  Barbra Streisand teams up with Neil Diamond in 1978 to create “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” and almost every guy in the world is not on a guilt trip from their wives about being romantic.

6.  March 26, 1964 Funny Girl hits broadway starring Barbra Streisand as Fanny Brice.

5.  1962 Barbra Streisand hits broadway with her debut show “I Can Get it for You Wholesale”.

The reason this is a huge moment in her life is that it is her debut on Broadway. Even though she wasn’t the lead, she was the one who got all of the attention. When an Actress that is new takes all of the reviews, the applause and doesn’t let it get to her head, you can tell she is ready to take over.

4.  The Barbra Streisand Album hits stores in 1963 starting her climb onto the Billboards for numerous other albums.

3.  Yentl hits the movies in 1983 and earns Barbra Streisand 5 Oscar Nominations.

2.  Barbra brings politics to her 2006 tour and says no to George W. Bush.

1.  Babs goes Diva and tells someone to F off!

If there is one thing you never do with a Diva, it’s start a fight, especially on stage. Barbra definitely didn’t enjoy it and not only did she stop the show, she even dropped an F bomb. That is why we love her!

There are a million amazing moments in Barbra’s career. Here are 20 of our favorites. Feel free to share your own Favorite Streisand moments by leaving a comment below.
