When you think of the people who star on Broadway, chances are you think they’re a bit crazy. Who else is going to get up on stage night after night, pretend to be someone else, sing at the top of their lungs, sometimes strip and most of the time have to make a fool of themselves. Broadway people are a bit insane, but so are some of their fans. The nice thing though is that even though they might have a bit of insanity, they are still regular, normal people like the rest of us and still get nervous around other celebrities. Check out this clip I found of Kristin Chenoweth, Christina Applegate and Carrie Underwood performing a mashup together.
I love in the video when they go over the awards they’ve won and Christina goes “I won a TV Guide Award” and Kristin goes “What’s That?” and someone else says, no a TV. (This was before GCB and I think Pushing Daisies, but I don’t think it was before West Wing.) Anyways, it shows they are a bit crazy but they also love to have fun. What’s nice is that so do all of their fans. Here are a few examples of how you can tell when a broadway fan is traveling or vacation. The first one is a reaction I had when I was doing the Avon breast cancer walk in Keystone Colorado.
As we were driving up to Keystone I saw a sign for Steamboat Springs and there was the word to after it. I instantly shrieked and made my friend stop the car. When I told her she has to get out to take a picture, she thought I was insane. Unfortunately we couldn’t find any paper, but what I wanted to do was have a Julie Andrews moment and write La Paz and hold it after the word to.
The second one is my friend Adam who is in Europe right now. You can always tell a broadway person because you’ll notice them in weird poses with absolutely no reason for it. If you ever see someone doing a weird pose at a building or monument, there is a chance it was from their favorite show. Check out this fun photo he posted to Facebook today.
when broadway people travel
This next one isn’t the image I was looking for and I took one in front of a Book of Mormon bus jumping in front of the poster in the same pose he was in, but this one is still ok. You have to love that Broadway fans are pretty much as crazy as the Actors. When they see a sign they can interact with, they kiss the main character, pose with the poster and sometimes even jump in the air to match it. The Book of Mormon probably has the most pictures of people jumping with the signs out there and it is definitely a fun one to see.

I still cannot get over how amazing Kristin Chenoweth was in her live tour. I’ve seen her in Promises Promises and heard her in Wicked, but the songs she chose and hearing her sing them the way she wanted really showed you how amazing and powerful her voice is. It’s amazing the way that a singer can take certain songs that they love and add their own twists and ranges to it to really show off how they want the song to be heard and how incredible they can make even the most classic song sound and become something unique that only they could do. Look at Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You.
Whitney Houston took the song for the movie the Bodygaurd and made it her own. People forgot that Dolly Parton was the original singer who wrote and performed it. During the show, Kristin Chenoweth decided to perform I Will Always Love You as well, but she decided to use the original Dolly Parton Version instead of the Whitney Houston Version. Although she could have taken it and created her own version, instead she loved the original enough, not to mention her love for Dolly Parton, that she kept it the way Dolly sang it and still sounded great.

Kristin Chenoweth – Maybe This Time Live
On a quick side note, the song starts coming in clear at the 20 second mark. I also did not include the ending because you have to see it live to really appreciate it. It doesn’t matter if she is in your city or not, go buy tickets to see her! She is amazing and you have to hear her sing this song live!
Kristin Chenoweth singing Bring Him Home (The Prayer) from Les Miserables Live On Tour.
Les Miserables is one of my favorite shows. Not only did Kristin take this amazing song sung by a guy and make it her own, but she got everyone in the audience to just about break out into tears. The emotion she put behind it and the expressions and feeling in her voice were able to drive an audience to quiet down to the point you could actually hear a pin drop because there was nothing else but Kristin Chenoweth singing. Her voice was amazing for this song, even though it wasn’t my favorite for the night, and she made it absolutely amazing. Although I would have loved to hear her sing other songs from Les Miserables, this one was perfect for her and she did an incredible job.
If you get a chance to see the Kristin Chenoweth tour, you have to go. You’ll not only have an amazing time, but you’ll get to hear versions of songs you had heard on cast recordings like Popular, but with her own twists and versions of them. The show is amazing and you will definitely not regret buying tickets to see her perform.

Lastnight I went to see Kristin Chenoweth Live at DAR/Constitution Hall in Washington DC. Not only was the Kristin Chenoweth tour amazing, but if you don’t buy show tickets for Kristin Chenoweth on tour, you will regret it! Kristin is an amazing performer that did everything from classic showtunes, to country western songs and an amazing ballad which was about her religion and got a standing ovation from a crowd that normally wouldn’t want to hear religious songs. She also had a ton of surprises during the show which made it more than worth missing the Tony Awards.
I’m not going to ruin the surprise for you all, but Kristin brings some of her most competitive Actors from the past, including a few that she lost to for a funny comedy routine and almost a sing off. It was absolutely incredible to see Kristin invite these three broadway celebrities on stage with her and the audience bursted into applause when they went off on each other. It was phenomenal. Kristin also has a surprise guest at each show that doesn’t know they are going to be a guest.

During the song “For Good” from Wicked, Kristin chooses a couple of people or one person from the audience to come up and either sing it as a duet or with her. In DC, she chose a girl that she saw in Philly but felt bad for not choosing then so she brought her down and let her come up to sing Elphaba’s part. Unfortunately for Kristin, this girl Lindsay sang the crap out of the song and even showed up Kristin a bit. I’ve never seen someone that could out do someone like Kristin Chenoweth and for the first time, I was absolutely shocked when I saw an unknown get up on stage and work a song better than Idina could and match Kristin with voice and talent. Kristin even made the joke “Note to self, never bring up someone on stage that is more talented than you”. Lindsay did an awesome job and I will be happy to see her in a show if/when she makes it on broadway.
The show and tour were absolutely amazing. Kristin definitely plugged her cds which are amazing and completely worth buying, as well as brought in her favorite charities and the charity her Musical Director started. Kristin has done a ton of work for groups like Broadway Cares and especially for her own Maddies Corner which is great for people who want to help animals get adopted. She is an amazing person who has a ton of talent and a huge heart which is more than amazing that it can all fit in someone who is just 4’11″. You don’t get many celebrities who are extremely talented and actually care. Many of them have a cause they support but it is somewhat for publicity or just a sometimes thing. By listening to Kristin talk and to the song she dedicated to her charities, you can tell her heart is dedicated to these causes and she really cares. She is an absolutely amazing performer and one of the most caring celebrities out there.
If you have a chance to go to the Kristin Chenoweth tour, buy your tickets fast as this is an amazing show and will hopefully sell out. You’ll hear everything from classic broadway showtunes to funny songs about shoes and even songs she has written for her new album. Kristin has done a ton of work and dedicated her time and energy to helping different communities and this is the perfect way to show her your thanks, as well as have an amazing night out. Kristin Chenoweth on tour is a must see if she is in your city. If you can buy tickets for Kristin Chenoweth, do it because this show and her line up is absolutely amazing!
Here she is singing Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera live. The music takes about 20 seconds to kick in. She is absolutely amazing in this song!
I can’t believe that BroadwayReviewed.com is now at 200 posts. Thank you everyone who reads this blog and comes back regularly. The reason I started this site is that every other site out there is about getting you to buy tickets to something or selling something and the rest are about the actors or who designed a set and costumes or who the producer is. What didn’t exist is a site about music, what it means to the author and personal opinions on songs and performers you may not have heard of. After 199 posts and looking through the site, I realized that this blog is still doing what I wanted it to do. Provide fabulous broadway songs, introduce you to awesome broadway stars and music as well as give an easy to read review of shows. Even though my philosophy for this blog hasn’t changed since starting it a few years ago, this song from one of my favorite performers Kristin Chenoweth definitely changes philosophies a lot.
Kristin Chenoweth recreated the role of Sally Brown in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and they added a brand new song to the revival called My New Philosophy. My New Philosophy from You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown is a song where Sally Brown gets a bad grade on her paper and decides that she needs to change her opinion on life by thinking of a new philosophy. Kristin Chenoweth performed My New Philosophy at the 1999 Tony Awards and when she did she not only had everyone watching fall in love with her singing and acting, but she also stole the show and made it so that no one could ever be as good or as memorable of a Sally Brown as she was. Not only was the role of Sally Brown perfect for her, but the song My New Philosophy from You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown is perfect for Kristin Chenoweth since it is upbeat, happy and funny at the same time. Pretty much everything you expect to see from her in a show, especially when she wasn’t as well known. Anyways, I think My New Philosophy from You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown is the perfect song for my 200th post because even though I haven’t changed my philosophy on how this blog should be written and who it is for, I love the song and think that everyone else will too.
If you’re n DC on Tony’s night and don’t mind missing or recording it on TIVO, Kristin Chenoweth is performing at the DAR theatre in Washington DC. Not only is it going to be an amazing performance, but Kristin has been releasing some brand new videos as well as songs which I am completely excited to get to see her perform.
We all remember her amazing performances at the Tony’s like Kristin Chenoweth performing Glitter and Be Gay from Candide or her performance of My New Philosophy from You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Not only is she amazingly talented, but she is a broadway diva, a TV Actress and also has appeared in a ton of Movies. She is an amazing person and an incredible activist for Gay Rights and someone that I absolutely cannot wait to see perform.
I already bought my Kristin Chenoweth tickets and am soo excited to see her. I got to meet her briefly when she was starring in Promises Promises at the Broadway Theatre. Not only was she incredibly friendly, but her singing and acting is absolutely amazing. She is one of the performers that can belt as well as sing dramatically and go either rock or opera. Kristin is one of the most talented broadway stars of our time and I am always excited when I get to buy broadway tickets for a show that she is starring in.
Tickets are still available for Kristin Chenoweth’s performance on Tony’s night at the DAR and you can find them on either Goldstar or TicketLiquidator by clicking either of the banners on the right side of this blog. You can also find a ton of other tickets and there may actually be some other shows that you’ll want to catch for Tony’s night and the parties that you can find there as well.
I love when broadway stars give solo performances because you get to learn a lot about them as well as the music that they love and actually like to sing. Since they choose their playlists and they get to sing them how they want to, you really get to hear what they can do and also discover how they think a song should be sung or heard. I cannot wait to see her at the DAR and hope that all of you can make it as well.
