Ten Minutes Ago from Cinderella – Broadway Proposal Songs

Posted by & filed under , .

To stay with the Cinderella mini theme with this week about engagements and showtunes to get engaged to, I figure the first song should be from Cinderella on Broadway.  Cinderella is all about getting married and a happy ending.  The song Ten Minutes Ago is all about falling in love and knowing that is the person you want to marry.  I’ve met a ton of couples that knew the minute they saw the person they fell in love and knew that was the person for them.  That is what this song is about.  Whether you are looking for a showtune for your first dance or you want showtunes that are perfect for getting engaged, Ten Minutes Ago is the perfect song for both.

Because the song is literally the prince singing to Cinderella about falling in love instantly, and because it can easily be a waltz which is an amazing dance, you can easily make it your first dance as a married couple and steal the dance floor.  Ten Minutes Ago from Cinderella is a gorgeous and romantic song that will make the people at your wedding tear as well as the broadway fans want to sing a long.  The words and the music make it the perfect broadway song for a first dance and one of the best showtunes to get engaged to.

If you play ten minutes ago from Cinderella to the person you are about to get married to, it’ll make the person cry.  You’ll be singing or playing a song that lets them know you instantly fell in love and have always wanted to marry them.  You’ll be there with them forever and you’ll never want to leave their side.  When you finally fall in love and know that it is the right person, this showtune is the perfect one for you to have playing in your head or to play to that person.  It won’t be your song as a couple, but it is definitely a great showtune to get engaged to.  It’s romantic, it is about instantly falling in love and about wanting to marry the person you love.

Cinderella at the Tony’s – OMG I Want to See The Show! Buy Tickets Here

Buy tickets to Cinderella the musical on sale

After seeing the performance from the cast of Cinderella on Broadway, I have to see the show.  I already wanted to buy tickets to Cinderella on Broadway, but I wanted to see other shows first like Kinky Boots when I go to NYC.  Cinderella the musical has always been one of my favorites.  I love the cast recording, the soundtrack from the movie version and everything about the show.  It is an amazing twist and whether it is the stage version, Brandy and Whitney or even Lea Salonga, the show is amazing.  Here is the clip from the Tony awards and then why I love the show and everything else.  You can buy tickets to Cinderella the musical on sale by clicking through the shopping list on the video player or by using the banners to the right as well.

So why do I love Cinderella the musical on Broadway?  Simple, I used to sing it with my mom when we would drive to school in the morning.  We loved watching the Disney movie version of the show so we bought the soundtrack and started to sing a long.  It quickly became one of our favorites and I have a ton of great memories from the show.

One of my favorite songs starts when Cinderella is sitting cleaning the house and sings “In My Own Little Corner”.  I would choreograph this and dance around as I was cleaning my room when I was younger…yes that should have been a huge sign for my family, and then I would start singing “Impossible” after I would finish.  Later on when I got a dog we both used to sing the waltz song “Ten Minutes Ago I Saw You….” when we adopted him, so the show became a fun part of our lives.

When you go to see a show, you go for either the special effects, the talent of the cast or because they have amazing dancing and costumes.  What I love about this one is that when you buy tickets to Cinderella the musical on broadway, you not only get the amazing costumes and dancing, but you get music that you will love, talent with the Actors and everything else that you could ever want.  There aren’t a million special effects, but the props and scenery is absolutely amazing which you can easily see from watching the video above of the performance at the Tony Awards.

If you are going to NYC and not sure what show you want to see, you should definitely buy tickets to Cinderella the musical on sale.  You can buy them by clicking on this link or by clicking on the link on the video player above.  Thank you again for reading and if you have seen Cinderella on Broadway or love the show as much as we do, feel free to leave a comment below and to share this post or the video on Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook.

Stepsister’s Lament from Cinderella – Ryan apparently likes it!

I just checked out The Stepsisters’ Lament from Cinderella on Broadway and it was awesome! Rodger and Hammersein’s Cinderella (which has been racking up Tony nominations left and right) has just announced that it will go on a nationwide tour. So, having only seen the Disney movie, I decided it was time to check out the theatrical version and decide if I should buy tickets for Cinderella on Broadway. After watching The Step Sisters’ Lament, I can’t wait to buy discounted tickets to Cinderella on Broadway and see the show when it comes touring near me.

As demonstrated by the Stepsisters’ Lament from Cinderella, the musical’s narrative largely stays in line with that of the classic Disney movie; so if you enjoyed the movie, then you will probably enjoy the Broadway production too. The stepsisters are clearly just as jealous, ignorant, self-indulgent, and cruel as they were in the cartoon version. However, I would argue that they definitely take the singing up a notch, as this may be the best duet I have ever seen.

The Step Sisters’ Lament from Cinderella takes place right after the cruel stepsisters realize that the Prince has chosen the “unusual” and unknown girl (Cinderella) as the belle of his ball. As the stepsisters quickly make clear, they are not afraid to let everyone know how angry and bewildered they are. The song has great costuming, witty lyrics, and plenty of comedy. I think that my favorite parts were the comparisons they kept making. For example, saying that her cheeks are not even pinker than roses, she was only as dainty as a daisy, that she was “merely” lovely, and that she certainly was not a usual girl like the stepsisters.

In addition to the lyrics, the casting and costuming in the Stepsisters Lament from Cinderella on Broadway was also fantastic. After all, mean people are easy to laugh at. Who does not want to chuckle over a disgruntled and violent man in drag and a rather rotund, very cruel woman? Especially when they are asking ridiculous questions about why the prince skips over them, instead choosing a beautiful girl that even they are unable to find a flaw with. After watching the Stepsisters’ Lament, I plan on buying tickets to Cinderella on Broadway just to see the stepsisters’ reaction when they find out that the girl that the prince chose is Cinderella.

One of the things that I really like about The Stepsisters’ Lament from Cinderella is that it shows how jealousy and greed can warp people’s perceptions. The stepsisters are literally singing about how perfect Cinderella is, but their minds are so twisted with pride, ignorance and envy that they cannot even realize this. Each of their insults is a backhanded compliment, and the best that they can do to degrade Cinderella is talk about how they could break her arms and pull her hair out. Neither of these ideas is likely to help them with the prince, but they are too mean and delusional to even notice or care.

Considering that Cinderella on Broadway has been nominated for the best orchestration, as well as the best costume, lighting and sound design of a musical in addition to many other awards, it is definitely a show worth seeing. Unfortunately, as of the time this post was written, the tour had not announced its dates and locations. However, it will be nationwide, so you should be able to expect that the production will be stopping in many major cities. It’s kind of fun to create your own show from random showtunes

I was listening to my iPhone playlist on the way to the beach this past weekend it was having fun combining songs together to make a new show out of different songs. One of the things I love about showtunes is that you can listen to a song and think that it means one thing or is about one thing, but when you see the show it becomes something completely different. If you take the songs that can easily have a different meaning, you can then place them with other showtunes and create a brand new story line. One of the ones that I was thinking of started with impossible from Cinderella, then Masquerade from Phantom of the Opera and then Last Night of The World from Miss Saigon.

So this one doesn’t really take on an entirely new meaning, but the songs could flow into each other theme wise. Musically it would be sort of a nightmare, unless you place it back into an operatic or old styled show. You start with the person who wants to go to a party but thinks its impossible. She wishes she could go, meet someone to fall in love with and then get married and have the happily ever after ending.

She goes to the party in her new gown which leads into Masquerade from Phantom. As they are there and singing, you can add in some dialogue and a new routine. The two bump into each other and maybe dance, maybe the guy she falls in love with is the Red Skeleton character or maybe they just pass each other by. Another option is to have her get scared and avoid the guy all night. Then when she goes to take a break outside, she runs into him or he comes out and runs into her. That’s when Last Night of the World comes on. The fun thing is that you can have some dialogue come on or you can even have them watching two others who are in love sing it and let it play into their relationship.

Anyways, here are those three songs from the movie or theatre versions. Feel free to leave your own favorite combinations below in the comments section.

Falling in Love with Love from Cinderella

Posted by & filed under , , , , .

So fall is here and everyone is getting the urge to find a boyfriend or a girlfriend to cuddle up with when the nights get chilly and winter starts to set in.  I can see in chat rooms people wanting dates instead of hookups or one night stands and everyone is back into romance and not caring as much about their diets since summer is over.  The fun thing about fall is that since you have Summer behind you and everyone wants someone to spend the winter with you can bring out the popcorn and pop in a movie instead of having cocktails on the beach and snuggle up with someone you hope to fall in love with.

You have halloween and horror movies that give you the excuse to not only wear extremely fun halloween pajamas, but also to spend that first night cuddled up together because you are scared from the movie…or at least can use that as the excuse.  After you have those first couple nights together you begin to fall in love and soon enough Thanksgiving is here and it is time to start dating seriously and meet the other person’s family.  Soon after you have your first Christmas together as a couple and may even get to say your very first I love you.  A week later you are toasting your new relationship with a glass of champagne and welcoming in the new years and it all began because people want to fall in love in the fall.   With everyone looking for love and falling in love with the fall it made me remember one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite broadway stars Bernadette Peters.  Bernadette Peters sang a song from the show Cinderella called Falling in love with love.

The song is a satire of people falling in love because they are in love.  Instead they should fall in love with the idea of marriage and moving forward in society.  Back when Cinderella would have been alive arranged marriages were common and just like in Fiddler on the Roof people would marry based on wealth and how they can move forward in society.  Although that is not very common in the USA now a days, people actually thought and believed it was the right thing to do and Bernadette Peters makes an excellent person to sing this satirical song.  I was asked to go on a date and am not sure if I am going to because for me, I don’t think I will be falling in love anytime soon, then again you never know when love will find you.

Here is Falling in Love with Love from Cinderella and sung by Bernadette Peters.
