Broadway Cares and The Drowsy Chaperone

So I didn’t end up going to Showtunes night at JRs last night but whatever, there are plenty of other nights to go and sing showtunes…but what I did do was remember seeing a show which I don’t think is on Broadway anymore called The Drowsey Chaperone.

It takes place in a guys apartment who is obsessed with a show from the 1920s or really old skool times where shows were on a stage with a single star and gangsters and flash and people had talent and didn’t have to rely on big show stages and special effects to make the show better.  The set was cool because the whole thing moved and changed but you were always still in his apartment.  What I liked even more was that the Drowsey Chaperone has everything you could want in a show, dancing, singing, comedy, an old drunk lady and a cast that could actually act and sing.

My favorite song was I don’t want to show off no more, but the best singer was the black lady at the end singing about flying in her airplane when the whole cast jumped on board and floated above the stage.  She had an amazing voice and ended the show perfectly.  The other thing I like about the show was that they sold autographed posters with the entire cast after the show and the money on the autographed ones was donated to an AIDS charity called Broadway Cares.  I did buy the poster with the donation and will post a picture of the Drowsey Chaperone Broadway Poster when I get my boxes unpacked from moving, however it isn’t the one that everyone likes, instead it is the one that just has the logo on it, but whatever it still went for a good cause and all went to charity.

The Drowsey Chaperone is an awesome feel good fun show for everyone so if it tours and comes to your town, stumble along (You’ll get the joke) to the theatre and enjoy a nice and fun night out at the theatre with your friends and family and enjoy The Drowsey Chaperone and have something to talk about over cocktails or dinner after the show.

Also, if you go to showtunes night, I know that they do play a couple of songs from the show every once in a while so look out for the one I like called I don’t want to show off no more (I think it is the CBS version from when they did their plug) or the tumble along song.
